William Loiry is an American business leader, defense and security facilitator, and philanthropist. William Samuel Loiry was born on September 25, 1958 in Washington, DC.

He is the son of the late Dr. David Loiry and the late Carol Loiry.

Loiry’s heritage is French, English, and German. He loves photography and cooks pies from scratch, including the crust. He is an avid traveler, having visited 48 U.S. states and 58 countries.

Loiry has been an active uncle, great uncle, honorary uncle, and godfather. He is the author of nine books, including the first U.S.-Russia business guide and the first U.S.-East European business guide.

CEO of Publishing Company (1981)

At age 23, Loiry became CEO of a publishing company, which published almost three dozen books, ranging from his parent’s highly-acclaimed book on personal growth, his own book on how to win science fairs, and a variety of international business guides.

Visit to Russia (1990)

Became the first American many Russians had ever met, traveling to most of Russia’s time zones. Was instrumental in facilitating the economic transition of the Soviet Union, bringing hundreds of Russian oil executives & bankers to the U.S. on business trips. Loiry met Russian President Boris Yeltsin in Red Square.

Founded Equity International (1995)

Loiry founded Equity International in 1995. After publishing the first U.S.-East European business guide, Loiry played a pivotal role in the creation and improvement of banking and capital markets in Central/Eastern Europe.

Reconstructing Bosnia (1996)

In January of 1996, Loiry organized the first conference on the reconstruction of post-war Bosnia. Since then, he has continued to bring together thousands of government officials, business leaders, and humanitarian experts to find solutions for the reconstruction and development of distressed areas of the world.

Pursuing Bin Laden (1998)

In 1998, following the bombings of American embassies in Africa, Loiry organized the first conference on the threat of Osama bin Laden to American companies overseas.

Cybersecurity Pioneer (1999)

In 1999, Loiry and his team organized the very first national cybersecurity conference in Washington – the Keynote Speaker was Richard Clarke, the President’s National Coordinator for Security, Infrastructure Protection, and Counterterrorism.

Meeting President Kostunica (2000)

In 2000, Loiry became the first American to meet Vojislav Kostunica as President, just days after Kostunica was sworn in as the last President of Yugoslavia

Identifying Security Solutions (2002)

Since 2002, Loiry and his team have brought together thousands of government and military officials, business leaders, and homeland security experts to identify funding and find solutions in border security, transportation security, mass transit security, infrastructure protection, emergency communications, biodefense, community preparedness, and global security.

Additional Reconstruction Efforts (2002)

He also helped reconstruct other areas of the Balkans; Central America following Hurricane Mitch; Turkey following deadly earthquakes; Venezuela following massive flooding; Afghanistan beginning in 2002; and Iraq beginning in 2003.

Homeland Security (2004)

At the 2004 Then-Homeland and Global Security Summit Loiry and his team organized in Washington, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge was the Keynote Speaker.

Hurricanes Katrina & Rita (2005)

Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, Loiry organized four major reconstruction conferences, bringing together FEMA, the American Red Cross, U.S. Senators, Members of Congress, governors, mayors, and industry leaders to identify the best solutions for immediate relief and long-term economic reconstruction.

BP Oil Spill (2010)

Following the BP oil spill in 2010, Loiry and his team organized major oil spill reconstruction conferences along the U.S. Gulf Coast. As billions began to be appropriated or ordered for Gulf restoration, Loiry and his team organized major Gulf Coast restoration conferences.

Since 2010….(2010)

Since 2010, Loiry and his team have organized dozens of defense conferences in Washington and throughout the United States, bringing together Members of Congress, senior Congressional staff, Pentagon officials, military base commanders, defense and federal government contracting officials, and industry to identify the best solutions to defend the United States.

Tunisia (2012)

In 2012, the Government of Tunisia asked Loiry and his team to organize a gala concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the Tunisian democracy uprisings – more than 2,000 guests attended the concert.

Superstorm Sandy (2012)

Shortly after Superstorm Sandy ravaged the U.S. Northeast, Loiry and his team organized a major Superstorm Sandy reconstruction conference in Washington, featuring Congressional appropriations staff and state and local leaders from New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.

Since 2010, Loiry and his team have organized dozens of defense conferences in Washington and throughout the United States, bringing together Members of Congress, senior Congressional staff, Pentagon officials, military base commanders, defense and federal government contracting officials, and industry to identify the best solutions to defend the United States.

Loiry is an active philanthropist and regularly donates and organizes support for domestic organizations helping veterans and their families, domestic and international organizations providing food and relief for victims of war and disaster, and domestic and international organizations fighting human trafficking, especially child sex trafficking. Among the organizations Loiry supports are: USOTAPS, and The Comfort Crew.
